Special Olympics in the Kawarthas!

February is Snowshoe Month in the Kawartha’s

Snowshoeing just might be one of Canada’s oldest winter activities but it is coming to Fenelon Falls as a new event for Special Olympics in February.

Wayne Jolly has created the inaugural Special Olympics event planned for Sunday February 5th 2017 in Fenelon Falls Ontario. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to experience the Kawartha Lakes region. This will help create enhanced tourism benefits and will hopefully pave the way for a winter festival in the future. Proceeds from the event will go to support Special Olympics’ Ontario Region Programs.

The Fenelon Special Olympics event will be a grass roots race designed for all levels of participants from beginner to expert. The entire event will be “virtual”, participants can plan to start and finish anytime between February 5th and February 20th. During this period the course markers will assist everyone to stay on track.

On February 5th, participants will meet at the Louisa Start Finish Area. The distances will be 500, 1600, 5k and 10k.  We have capped participation in waves of 5 athletes, on the trails at 30 minute intervals.

Join us for a fun event with special discounts for Families and Community Groups.
