Across Ontario Special Olympics has named February “Snowshoe Month” with participants setting their own “Virtual” course in their home community. Fenelon Falls based Snowshoe Kawartha has hosted some of the largest Snowshoe events in Canada but with COVID deeply affecting our ability to gather, a new plan was required for 2021.
Snowshoe Kawartha will register Special Olympics athletes across the entire Province of Ontario. Each athlete registers, sets their course(s) and tracks their performance and reports back to Special Olympics Ontario. All Special Olympics athletes register by only selecting “GOING VIRTUAL”
Special Olympics athletes participated in the Fenelon Falls in 2020 with impressive results. But the event is not just for Special Olympics, any outdoor enthusiast can participate and raise money for Special Olympics. The Snowshoe Course in Fenelon Falls will be open and as permitted under COVID Guidelines the 500, 1600, 5000 and 10,000 Meter courses will be posted to allow everyone to enjoy the “Best Snowshoe Course” in Ontario.
Snowshoers from across Canada and internationally can support Special Olympics Ontario. Participants can register by choosing any of the following distances of 500, 1600, 5000 and 10,000 Meters.
Registration opens in mid-December, so please REGISTER NOW to give the entire family a chance to raise money for a great cause.
